Is the Queen of England the rightful monarch?

No. The last Queen of England was Anne, who died in 1714.


Under English law, you can’t be the monarch if you’re dead.

As far as the Queen of the United Kingdom goes, she’s the rightful monarch because her succession to the throne was “by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spirituall and Temporall and Commons in Parlyament assembled and by the authoritie of the same”. (Bill of Rights 1688). If Parliament says that she’s the rightful monarch, then that’s what she is.
